Assist Policy Department staff in researching environmental issues on a local, regional, state, or federal level, tracking environmental issues, assisting in daily administrative duties, as well as writing research summaries and policy position statements. Opportunities to plan and develop reports, conferences, and other activities related to community outreach on policy issues, as well as opportunities to participate in relevant meetings of the county and city governments regarding conservation issues of interest. They can help your organization decrease recruitment costs and enable you to add personnel during periods when workload has increased, but you do not want to add another full-time employee. In the past I have obtained four great interns that way. Two ended up working for me and one of the others did several freelance assignments for my years later.

INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: North Carolina Wind Energy Summer Internship

The Coastal Wind Initiative at the North Carolina Solar Center provides education and outreach on wind energy technology to communities in coastal North Carolina. The Wind Energy Intern will help with the development and delivery of the program’s outreach campaign, including assisting with public workshops, updating factsheets, and managing website content.
