Trained MBA students from top business schools can now apply to become a 2010 Climate Corps fellow. The program embeds students in leading companies to develop practical, actionable energy efficiency plans. They spend up to three months identifying and analyzing savings opportunities. Application materials are due no later than 5:00pm PST on Monday, January 11, 2010.

When I was a freshmen in high school, I had an English teacher that assigned my class to find a piece of writing, then copy the structure using my own words. The idea was to understand and internalize how the masters do it, but with our own personality and creativity. It was a great exercise that I have used over and over in all kinds of areas of my life, not just writing. Any time I have wanted to learn a new skill, stepping in to the shoes of those that do it REALLY well has always helped me to understand where I want to end up.

In a National Restaurant Association survey of trends for 2009, environmentally friendly equipment and sustainable practices topped chefs’ lists of hot trends and top cost-savers.

Environmental Defense Fund is looking for diverse candidates who are seeking a professional experience in environmental advocacy. The Diversity Fellowship is a full-time, one-year position focused on a project that is integral to one of EDF’s key program areas – Oceans, Ecosystems, Climate or Health. The Fellow will have the opportunity to work closely with our staff on a significant project, develop core professional skills, understand our approach to environmental issues, and develop an understanding of environmental advocacy as a career path.

The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) recently published an online map that identifies and profiles more than 1,200 companies in key manufacturing states that they see as poised create new jobs when Congress passes a cap on global warming pollution. The interactive map spotlights companies located in manufacturing regions, including those in communities in the rust belt and coal country.

Creating green jobs is the first order of business for the White House Task Force on Middle Class Families.  Led by Vice President Joe Biden, the Task Force held its inaugural meeting on Friday in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania.
