The Obama administration announced $350 million in stimulus funds to help expand geothermal resources and break down technological barriers. This is a huge jump in funding, dwarfing all previous government commitments and is more than all the funding for geothermal energy put together over the last 20 years. It also represents a dramatic reversal of previous trends of diminishing funding for this often overlooked renewable energy sector.
The first team of veteran energy efficiency professionals will graduate from the Veterans Green Jobs Academy™ Home Energy Auditor Training (HEAT) Program today at a celebration event to be held at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. In his Commencement Address, the Honorable Colorado Governor Bill Ritter will congratulate the Veterans Green Jobs Academy participants on their dedication to moving our country toward energy independence through the pursuit of ‘green’ careers that will benefit all Americans.
With so much focus on green jobs, I decide to compile a comprehensive list of all the lists of green jobs that I could find. I found such 11 lists. Fast Company, Fortune, Hotjobs, CareerBuilder, Greentech Media, Forbes, E Magazine, Super Eco, Inventor’s Spot, Eco Salon and Boston.com all had Green jobs lists. The occupations most frequently mentioned include: urban and regional planning, environmental attorneys, conservation biologists, energy and environmental engineers, hydrologists, environmental educators, organic food production, sustainability specialists, green software and hardware specialists, wind energy developers, and waste disposal specialists.
