INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: North Carolina Wind Energy Summer Internship

The Coastal Wind Initiative at the North Carolina Solar Center provides education and outreach on wind energy technology to communities in coastal North Carolina. The Wind Energy Intern will help with the development and delivery of the program’s outreach campaign, including assisting with public workshops, updating factsheets, and managing website content.

Internship Spotlight: Center for a New American Dream Responsible Purchasing Network Intern

Responsible Purchasing Network (RPN) develops cutting edge strategies and resources to assist large institutions; including state and local governments, universities, and corporations, in purchasing socially and environmentally responsible products and services. Interns will work with the RPN Manager in one or more of the following areas: 1. Researching and indexing environmentally preferable purchasing policies 2. Keeping track of RPN-related developments via news sources, new legislation, environmental blogs, etc… 3. Building and linking a RPN glossary of procurement and environmental terms 4. Assisting with membership renewals and prospecting for new members.

INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Lopez Community Land Trust Offers Summer, Fall Sustainable Building Internships

The Lopez Community Land Trust (LCLT), a non-profit community-based organization is offering sustainable building internships for the Spring, Summer and Fall of 2009 in Lopez Island, WA. The sustainable internships will include construction with straw bale and natural plaster construction and a host of other tasks connected with completing the Common Ground neighborhood.

INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Lost Valley Educational Center Sustainable Building and Maintenance Internship

The Lost Valley Educational Center in Dexter, OR is offering a sustainable building and maintenance internship to assist the center transform it’s conventional building bbinfrastructure into more sustainable green buildings. This involves retrofitting our cabins, lodge, classrooms, and dormitories so that they are more energy efficient, healthful, and beautiful. We also do projects from the ground up; possibilities include installing solar hot-water panels, designing a bike shop, building a composting toilet.

INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: U.S. Green Building Council Green Building Fund Development Internship

The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 18,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, currently has an opening for an individual with an interest in learning about nonprofit fundraising and management to serve as intern with its Fund Development Department.

The intern will work closely with department staff to research prospective funders; draft proposals, reports, and department communications; assist in fundraising appeals; and support department administration. Training opportunities provided.

INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Southface Energy Institute Sustainable Building Internship Program

Southface Energy Institute is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable homes, workplaces and communities through education, research, advocacy and technical assistance. Southface offers a limited number of internships to qualified applicants as training for the benefit of each intern. The internships are intended to provide meaningful and challenging learning in a fast-paced organizational environment. Academic credit is available when applicable to curriculum. The program accepts undergraduates, college graduates, or those who have an equivalent level of work and educational experience.

INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Lopez Community Land Trust Sustainable Agriculture Internships

The Lopez Community Land Trust, a non-profit, community-based organization that acquires land to hold in trust in order to provide for permanent affordable housing in an environmentally sensitive and socially responsible manner. It is offering summer and fall internships in sustainable agriculture that will offer work experience on organic farms and research work for future projects. Opportunities are available for touring permaculture operations and biodynamic farms in the area as well.

Eco Achievers Seeks Sustainability Experts to Develop Online Courses

Eco Achevers, an educational provider of online courses on renewable energy, green building, and sustainable living is seeking course authors. Their audiences include both the general public looking to lead more sustainable lives, as well as professionals such as LEED APs looking for specific training on implementing sustainability. Class topics that raise basic or general awareness of sustainability appropriate towards consumers can be distributed through their network of over 250 community colleges. More advanced courses dealing with “how to” or implementation of sustainability can appeal to green building trades or sustainability professionals.

Internship Spotlight: Justmeans CSR and Social Media Summer Internship

Justmeans is recruiting a cohort of CSR and Social Media Summer Interns for the summer of 2009. Applicants should be enrolled in, or have just completed an MBA program and have an interest in sustainability, social enterprise, corporate social responsibility and responsible investing.
