Responsible Purchasing Network (RPN) develops cutting edge strategies and resources to assist large institutions; including state and local governments, universities, and corporations, in purchasing socially and environmentally responsible products and services. Interns will work with the RPN Manager in one or more of the following areas:   1. Researching and indexing environmentally preferable purchasing policies   2. Keeping track of RPN-related developments via news sources, new legislation, environmental blogs, etc…  3. Building and linking a RPN glossary of procurement and environmental terms  4. Assisting with membership renewals and prospecting for new members.

Schedule: 16-32 hrs/week, 10-12 week internship
Approximate start date: June 1
Compensation: Unpaid
Location: Washington, DC (3 blocks from the Takoma Metro Station on the red line.)

Supervisor: The Responsible Purchasing Network Intern(s) will report to Vincent Kitira, RPN Manager.

* Solid organizational skills
* Attention to detail
* Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook
* Ability to work well as part of a team

Preferred applicants will have the following qualifications:

* Research experiences, especially those involving green products
* Knowledge of policymaking, sustainability issues, and/or green business strategies
* Previous web-editing experience
* Previous office work experience

The RPN Intern will be exposed to green purchasing from a variety of perspectives. The Intern will have specific projects to complete over the summer and will learn a variety of professional skills in the process. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive impact by promoting the use of environmentally preferable products.
