Conservation Fund Accepting Applications for Greenways Grants

The Conservation Fund, in partnership with Eastman Kodak and the National Geographic Society, provides small grants to stimulate the planning and design of greenways in communities across the United States. The annual grants program is designed to help establish a national network of greenways. Grant recipients are selected according to a number of criteria, including importance of the project to local greenway development efforts, demonstrated community support for the project, extent to which the grant will result in matching funds or other support from public or private sources, likelihood of tangible results, and the capacity of the organization to complete the project.

California American Water Funds 2009 Environmental Grant Program

California American Water is accepting applications for its 2009 Environmental Grant Program. The company will award several grants for a combined total of $10,000 to innovative community-based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds and drinking water supplies within the state. A wide variety of conservation projects are eligible for funding, such as watershed cleanups, reforestation efforts, biodiversity projects, streamside buffer restoration projects, wellhead protection initiatives and hazardous waste collection efforts.

Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Grants Program Announces 2009 Request for Proposals

Administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Grants Program provides grants to organizations and local governments working on a local level to protect and improve watersheds in the Chesapeake Bay basin while also building citizen-based resource stewardship. The purpose of the program is to support protection and restoration actions that contribute to restoring healthy waters, habitat, and living resources of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem.

National Science Foundation Sustainable Energy Grant

The National Science Foundation is offering the following grant opportunity with a submission deadline of September 15th 2009. The duration of unsolicited awards is generally one to three years. The average annual award size for the program is $100,000. The grant id is: PD 09-7644

The Energy for Sustainability program supports fundamental research and education in energy production, conversion, and storage and is focused on energy sources that are environmentally friendly and renewable. Most world energy needs are currently met through the combustion of fossil fuels. With projected increases in global energy needs, more sustainable methods for energy production will need to be developed, and production of greenhouse gases will need to be reduced.

Greenopolis Foundation Define Your Own Sustainability Project Grant

The Greenopolis Foundation in partnership with the Environmental Media Association (EMA), the Greenopolis Foundation will award grants to offline projects that produce educational materials and resources which would benefit the Greenopolis online community and others interested in environmental sustainability.
