Steven-TeitelbaumSteve Teitelbaum is a Partner at Jones Day where his practice focuses on solving transactional real estate problems for owners, buyers, sellers, and users of real estate. He has handled sales and purchases of land and office, multifamily, and warehouse projects; worked on real estate development; negotiated office and retail leases on behalf of landlords and tenants; and closed real estate finance transactions. He has experience in leasing to the United States government and in public/private development with government agencies. Steve is also co-leader of the Firm’s hospitality industry specialty practice team and has worked with hotel owners such as Bay Harbour, FFC Hospitality, Five Star, and Morgan Stanley Real Estate on developments, acquisitions, and sales as well as in negotiating management and franchise contracts. An emerging area of his practice is environmentally sustainable real estate projects.

In addition to assisting American developers, investors, and funds, Steve has represented foreign investors such as Acom and Wealth Capital. He represented MedStar Health in complex transactions involving ground leasing, acquisitions, and sales of hospitals and portions of hospital campuses. Steve handles not only the real estate aspects of transactions, but also works on joint ventures and strategic alliances.

Steve is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) and a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the American Planning Association, and the District of Columbia Building Industry Association, where he is on the board of directors and the long-time co-chairman or vice chairman of the Programs Committee. He speaks frequently on real estate topics, particularly leasing, and has become a leading lecturer on “green” leases.
