Since 2001, Holding Associates, a brand and creative consultancy, has focused on the intersection of brand and social responsibility, working with Cisco Systems, Wilmington Trust, Bankrate.com, the US EPA, Yale University’s School of Environmental Sciences, and various non-profits. Her firm conducted brand strategy projects including creative implementation; Carol is known for her skill in strategy, facilitation and writing, combined in projects such as a company history for Cisco.

Founded in San Francisco in 1992 as a thought leader in technology branding, Holding Associates launched and expanded brands for Silicon Valley companies and other national and global companies and non-profits. Before founding Holding Associates, Carol worked in executive management positions at Siegel & Gale, McCann Erickson, and Citibank.

Carol has presented to the Socially Responsible Investment Conference (SRI in the Rockies) where she launched the first study of the financial worth of CSR through its impact on brand value. She also presented her findings to the Conference Board, Sustainable Brands, and Wharton Green Summit, and has given talks to the Commonwealth Club of California, the Urban Land Institute, American Marketing Association and UC Berkeley and UCLA. Her articles on CSR and brand have been published in the Carnegie Institute Policy Innovations, San Francisco Chronicle and other publications.

Carol received her BA from Smith College and her MBA from Harvard University. Carol currently serves as Advisor to CSRHUB and Sustainable Media. She was Chair of the HBS Club of New York 2008 Social Enterprise Summit and served on the Club’s Board of Directors. She was also a Board Member of AMREF (African Medical and Research Foundation) and a member of the Women’s Forum of New York.
