In this post Andrea argues the case for acting now in order to ensure that the sustainability community avoid becoming an enclave of exclusivity detached from the world’s main and mean streets. Sustainability needs to become a broad based movement with broad appeal and that delivers broad benefits.
It’s been a big year for corporate responsibility. A huge oil spill, continued ructions in the financial sector, landmark decisions in the courts, and a new dawn for online companies around human rights issues are among the top CSR stories of 2010.
The Society for Values in Higher Education (SVHE) is a fellowship who cares deeply about ethical issues facing higher education and the wider society. The annual SVHE meeting, with a theme of Making Choices: Sustainability in a World of Conflicting Values, will be held at Portland State University from July 21-25, 2010. Scientists, scholars and educators are invited to present papers that address sustainability from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Proposals are due by April 1, 2010.
