The Program/Office Assistant provides program, administrative and communications support for the various DC-based programs of ISC. The assistant will conduct research, attend meetings, prepare correspondence, presentations, and other communications material, perform general clerical and receptionist functions, and manage facilities, equipment and systems to ensure an effective and efficient work environment. To succeed in this position, the incumbent must be extremely organized, have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people, and be a strategic thinker and proactive problem solver. The person must have general administrative experience and be able to intuitively know and understand work priorities, workflow, and be able to anticipate actions needed to support the programs.

Seven Up and Coming Smart Grid Software Companies to Watch

The Smart Grid will require substantial information processing, storage and data mining resources. An entire new software sector is rising to meet the challenges and fill the many new needs opened up by its arrival. Spending on the smart grid is estimated to be $165 billion over the next 20 years (Source: EPRI) and a good portion of this will be on software and data services. Eco Achievers Seeks Sustainability Experts to Develop Online Courses

Eco Achevers, an educational provider of online courses on renewable energy, green building, and sustainable living is seeking course authors. Their audiences include both the general public looking to lead more sustainable lives, as well as professionals such as LEED APs looking for specific training on implementing sustainability. Class topics that raise basic or general awareness of sustainability appropriate towards consumers can be distributed through their network of over 250 community colleges. More advanced courses dealing with “how to” or implementation of sustainability can appeal to green building trades or sustainability professionals.

United Nations Report Says Forestry can Create 10 Million Green Jobs

The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization says that investing in sustainable forest management, sustainable forest management can not only address climate issues, but also offset job losses caused by the economic downturn, by creating ten million new green jobs. Forests and trees are vital storehouses of carbon, so such an investment could also make a major contribution to climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
